Change the statuses a project can be in
The five statuses a workspace starts with are a starting point, not a fixed list. Owners and admins can rename them, recolour them, reorder them, and add their own: "Awaiting parts", "On hold", "Needs sign-off", all under Workflow.
Steps
- Go to Workflow in the sidebar.
- Drag a status to change where it sits in the order.
- Click a status to rename it, give it a colour, or move it to another category.
- Use Add status in any category to create a new one.
- Use Make default for new projects on the status every new project should start on.
The three categories
- Not started: booked or being prepared; no work has begun.
- Active: work is under way.
- Terminal: finished. A project here only moves again if someone reopens it.
Order is what drives Advance: it moves a project to the next status in the list and stops at the first terminal one. Anything you put after that (Cancelled, by default) becomes an off-ramp you choose deliberately rather than one a project can drift into.
Every category has to keep at least one status, and the status new projects start on can't be removed. If you delete a status that projects are currently on, Alpha asks where to move them first, so nothing is ever left without a status.
